Original ArtworkYou are required to produce an original piece of art incorporating the stylistic traits of the artist you have chosen. Your art is not intended to be a replica of an already existing piece (i.e., do not copy your artist’s work!). Ensure that the following criteria is met:

• If possible, create an original piece of art modeling your artist in media (substitute acrylic paint for oils)• Produce a piece that incorporates at least four stylistic traits of your artist such as use of composition; color, light, and shadow; perspective; subject matter; and line. Title your piece. Note: Your grade will not be based on how good of an artist you are, rather how well you meet the criteria stated above.

Oral Presentation and Talking PointsAfter your Original Artwork is complete, you will be required to present your piece and artist to the class. Your presentation should be approximately 10 minutes in length, and include the information listed below. PowerPoint is required. The Talking Points paper should be a typed, detailed outline of what you will discuss in your presentation. The combination of both these pieces will equal a project grade.

• Title Page – include “Artist’s Project” and name of your artist, followed by your name, date, my name, “8th Grade English” • Background of artists – from your Written Background, summarize your artist’s personal background. Help your audience “get to know” your artist• Your Artwork/Stylistic Connections – Present your Original Artwork and thoroughly explain the specific stylistic connections between your artwork and that of your artist• Reflection Analysis – Discuss 1) most challenging or interesting part of producing your artwork, 2) principal strengths and weaknesses of your art and explain why, 3) what you have learned in producing your artwork.• Conclusion – Any closing remarks you would like to add, or summary of key points. Note: It would be most effective in your PowerPoint presentation if you were able to show the pieces from the artist which inspired your original artwork. This information should be discussed before you present your Original Artwork.
