MGMT In my opinion MGMT are represented as a fun loving band who are individuals and carefree. Their image also suggests that they are slightly ‘hippyish’ judging by the bright colours they wear and their style of clothing, e.g. they wear a lot of jewelry and their clothes don’t look like they are from the high street. Their image also looks effortless because of their rugged hair and facial hair, that implies they don’t spend a lot of time on their looks, and spend more time on having fun.

The majority of MGMT album covers and album art is bright and flamboyant. They have a lot of colour in them again suggesting that the band are bright and wild people. They also have a hallucinogenic and psychedelic feel too them showing that the band are daring and imaginative.

Marina & the DiamondsMarina and the diamonds image suggests she is a confident individual. Her costumes are always fun and different. This suggests that the band is fun and upbeat. Even though her costumes are quite crazy they still appear stylish which will appeal too the audience as they can then see the lead singer as a fashion icon as well as an indie pop band.

When you look at the album and single covers from Marina & the Diamonds they all have a similar image, the font that is used is the same in every album and it seems quite artistic perhaps showing that marina and the diamonds are interested in art and are creative people.

THEDRUMS

The DrumsThe Drums image in my opinion is very clean and they almost seem a bit ‘geeky’. They don’t give off the vibe that they have done or do drugs or drink and smoke. All members have a similar dress sense all wearing trousers that are slightly too small for them which is a popular indie style at the moment before this was made fashionable by bands like The Drums this image was associated with geeky characters in films or on TV this is what makes the band seem harmless and innocent. They all have the same ‘bowl cut’ hair cut that used too be seen as very unfashionable.

THE DRUMSThe Drums album covers are simple and don’t make too much of a statement they all say the name of the band in big capitals so then they are recognizable but they don’t say too much about the bands image. The colours are all quite muted and washed out e.g. the yellows are usually a mustardy colour making the covers feel quite retro, which links in with the bands retro and vintage dress sense.
