Opening Scene

At the beginning of the film, an establishing shot is used to portray the area that the current characters are in: a rural area with a lack of inhabitants showing that there is a separation from the rest of society. Within thriller movies, having this feature will show that if any conflict were to occur, no support or services will show as the area is remote and separated from the densely populated city.

A government representative is then shown by a mid-long shot which portrays the type of character that he is. Having the agent in front of a airplane asserts his authority over others and shows his character as being superior until later on in the scene.

A two shot is used to show when the government agent takes off one of the criminals masks only to realise that the criminal is Bane, a powerful and sinister criminal that the government agents have been looking for. As Bane is a high profile criminal, we can assume that the government agent’s status will drop and he will become inferior towards Bane.

Opening Scene

As Bane takes control over the plane that they are in, his group members attach the plane that they are in to a plane above them so that this one is able to crash when released. The high angle used here helps to assert Bane’s authority and shows his power over the government agents.

Opening Scene

Bane escapes the plane after it has been released. An aerial shot has been used to add emphasis to the plane that is going to crash land. The person that he has saved is the doctor and from this, it could suggest that he is going to manipulate and take advantage of him.
