1.0 INTRODUCTION
At the request of Vision Extrusions Limited, Exova was retained to evaluate a vinyl rail material for physical properties in accordance with select sections of ICC-ES AC 174. Material was randomly selected from an available lot by an Exova representative at the Vision Extrusions Limited facility in Woodbridge, ON on April 14, 2012. Three samples of a vinyl rail system were selected; details of the sample selection are provided in Appendix A Upon receipt, the samples were assigned the following Exova Sample Nos.:
Client Sample Identification Exova Sample No. “OR Baluster, 1.25 x 33”
White vinyl extruded rail – 936 pcs. VE3000022+VE1004136 (WH136 Fence)

Note: Only the baluster sample, 12-06-M0241-A, was tested during this evaluation and was considered the ‘worst case scenario’ product based on the profile (see Appendix A).
2.0 PROCEDURE
The sample was tested in accordance with the following sections of ICC-ES AC 174:

4.0 REVISION(S) 2012-10-22 The report was revised at the clients request to include the material colour code in
the client sample identification of Section 1. 5.0 CONCLUSION
The material submitted by Vision Extrusions Ltd., identified as “OR Baluster, 1.25 x 33,” tested as described in this report, has a maximum restrictive deviation of 36.52% when tested at a temperature of 52°C. According to the criteria of ASTM D7032; Section 4.5.3, the maximum test loads for the rails should be increased by 11.52% when testing the guard and handrail performance requirements outlined in Section 6 of the ICC-ES AC 174. The flame spread of the baluster meets the requirements of ASTM D7032 as outlined in Section 4.9.1.
