•Developed in Australia in the early 1990s, Rapidwall is now in use in a number of countries around the world .•Rapidwall is a cost effective prefabricated load-bearing, single panel, walling system with significant benefits for the building industry, especially in the speed of construction. •Manufactured to precise specifications the panels are cut in the factory and delivered on-site ready for erection. •Unlike other systems Rapidwall can be erected by a small crew of trained manual workers thereby reducing the need for traditional building skills.

RANGE OF USES:

• Domestic homes. • Multi-storey buildings. • Formwork for suspended concrete floor structures. • Most other purposes for which traditional building materials are currently used.•Around the world there is a growing need for low energy, low cost, environmentally friendly and ecologically sound building solutions. •Rapidwall is 100% recyclable; earthquake, fire and cyclone tested to the highest standards as well as being rot, and termite resistant. •Off cuts from panels can be returned to factory for recycling.

• Our India is still a developing country fighting with a huge shortage of housing every year.

• We need a very fast construction technology which can increase our development rate

• Conventional methods of construction lead to formation of huge amount of CO2 (about 40% is developed due to construction industry) increasing chances of global warming.

• Fertilizer industries are facing problems regarding disposal of industrial waste gypsum (2000 tonnes per day)

• We are not having enough water for ourselves, then why allow buildings to drink it?

WHY????

Page 5: rapid walls- modular construction technology

•Waste is used as resource making it very economical.• Construction rate is very fast- changes brick by brick construction to wall by wall construction.•Green Alternative Technology- Thus Environment Friendly.•Uses very less Sand, Steel and Water•Building is fire resistant•Earthquake resistant•Much less labour force needed•Weight of structure is very less•More carpet area for same built up area•No need of beams and columns•No need of plastering thus cost can be saved in finishing

RAPID WALL PANEL

•The Rapidwall panel measures 12.02 m long by 3 m high.• The panels are cellular in form. cavities extend to the full height of the panel which has an overall thickness of 123mm plus or minus 3mm. •The panel has an inner and outer leaf of13mm thick plus or minus 3mm, withcavities 94mm deep by 230mm Wide separated by a 20mm wide web.

•Panels are precut in the factory to specified dimensions for construction. • Openings for doors and windows are cut in the factory. Panels do not expand or contract like brick or concrete and can be cut to within a 5mm tolerance. • Rapidwall Panels are transported by either a stillage or open top container. A transport stillage can carry between five and eight Panels. An open top container can carry up to 500 square metres of RapidwalPanel. Panels are unloaded by a crane.

•A conventional foundation like spread footing, RCC column footing, raft or pile foundation is used as per the soil condition and load factors.•All around the building RCC plinth beam is provided at basement plinth level.•For erection of panel as wall, 12 mm dia vertical reinforcement called “starter bars” of 0.75m length of which 0.45m protrudes up and remaining portion with 0.15m angle is placed into the RCC plinth beams before casting.•These bars are kept at a distance of 1m centre to centre to match the cavities of the panel.

FOUNDATION:HOW TO MAKE BUILDING??

Page 9: rapid walls- modular construction technology
Page 10: rapid walls- modular construction technology

•Pre-cut panels are brought to the construction site.•Panels are kept over the starter bars on the plinth beam using cranes.•Grooves are cut into the panels at every joints to facilitate integral bonding.•Appropriate reinforcement bars are inserted as per design into the cavities.•These reinforcements are then tide to the starter bars.•Verticality of panels are checked and then cavities having reinforcements are filled with concrete.•It is mandatory to reinforce and fill all the joints with concrete.Other cavities can be filled with any inert materials (e.g. quarry dust mixed with 5% cement and water)
