Advance Planning for enterprise AR and VR

When purchasing new equipment, add the following criteria • Will it be supplied with a vector based digital 3D model• Does the digital 3D model contain repair and maintenance steps

When building or upgrading a building or plant ask for:• A larger 3D model which combines each individual asset• Metadata of the model aligned at source with enterprise data • Tag every asset so it can be easily identified electronically (NFC

tag, BLE, Barcode, QR code)

Implementing and retrofitting enterprise AR and VR

When designing and implementing AR solutions• Leverage the partner ecosystem but spread the risk• Consider that an exact location is often more useful than Real

Object recognition• Plan for a dedicated effort on indoor positioning• Integrate real time contextual and IOT feeds

When retrofitting AR & VR• Plan for the large volumes of data and post processing needed

after a laser scan of a plant.• Go back to suppliers and manufacturers for digital 3D models

What next

Hardware• Small but significant improvements derived from real usage• New price points and sub classes of devices• Cameras with advanced capabilities standard on anything from

phones to laptops: Depth, Infrared, 360 degree

Software and UX• mostly catching up with the advances in software• Solid building blocks but still often a significant custom project
