CONTENTS OF BAVLA DPRCONTENTS OF BAVLA DPRProposed Water Supply ComponentsSource Surface Water from Narmada Canal

Bavla Taluka Head works is being supplied clear and treated water from the Narmada Canal Authorities. Proposed project would be sourcing its supply for the town from canal and 4.5 MLD supply is assured by the canal authorities for the present population and 8.0 MLD water till the ultimate year. No investment on the treatment and chlorination is required for the town.

Rising Main from Proposed Clear Water Rising Main from Yogeshwar HW (Narmada Head Work) Sump (proposed) to All ESR The rising main from the clear water sump is proposed under the project to supply water to existing and proposed ESR. The pumping mains are designed to supply directly to ESR there by reducing the scope of the sump at each of these water works site.

Pumping machinery Proposed to install at Main Head Works - Two numbers of pump sets including one as stand by unit of capacity 117.60 KW are proposed with 100% standby.

Clear Water Sump The project proposed to construct 2.0 MLD clear water sump at the Bavla Town Head Works at the present Yogeshwar bore area in the TP scheme no. 1. The existing sump of 0.5 MLD would be utilized specifically for the additional demand likely to arise from the rice mill industrial supply (120 nos) within the Bavla town.

Service Reservoirs The town has at present 9 ESR serving from outside the old city area and is poorly interconnected. Since the service reservoirs were dependent on the bore water which was pumped from the sump located at each of the sites the O&M cost used to be high as more than 20-30 % of the total revenue

expenditure.

The project proposed to connect all the existing ESR except Trimutri Bore (Beyond NH) and Havada Bore to the Main Head Works. Three new ESR are proposed to meet the zonal demand till the ultimate year, especially in the TP scheme areas.

The entire water distribution system has been segmented into seven (7) zones. Each zone will be served by an independent service reservoir. To facilitate this zoning, the total water distribution to each proposed zone has been determined based on per capita demand and benefiting population. Details of the proposed distribution system (Existing and Proposed Service Reservoir) indicating the population served at the ultimate stage, storage capacity, storage/demand ratio etc. is furnished.

For the convenience of utilization of the existing storage and planning for the new infrastructure it was necessary to justify the equitable and area specific distribution zones.
