Negative effects

• Game environments are often based on plots of violence, aggression and gender favoritism.

• Over-dependence on video games could foster social isolation, as they are often played alone.

• Many games only offer an arena of weapons, killings, kicking, stabbing and shooting.

• Academic achievement may be negatively related to over-all time spent playing video games.

• Many games do not offer action that requires independent thought or creativity.

• Games can confuse reality and fantasy. • Playing violent video games may be related to

aggressive behavior

Internet

The Internet has a significant potential for providing children and youth with access to educational information, and can be compared with a huge home library.

• Benefits of the Internet:• • Near limitless information resource• • High degree of availability and affordability in most communities in

the western world• • An asset for research or homework• • A communication tool for teachers and university professors with

their students• • Rapid and inexpensive communication via e-mail and video

linkage• • Access by the disabled to much that may otherwise be

unavailable:• • Through technology that makes computer use possible

Adverse effects: • Underage children may accidentally or by design access

pornographic sites• Predators have access to minors through unsupervised

use of chat rooms and e-mail• Loss of inhibitions normally experienced when face-to-

face, promoting sexual exchanges and promiscuity• On-line gambling• Potential for plagiarism in school work• Promotion of hatred or violence through Web sites

targeting a specific group, such as women, homosexuals, and religious or ethnic groups

• Violence through video games, song lyrics and on-line bullying, access to hazardous materials or information on making weapons.

Alcohols and drugs

• Messages about tobacco and alcohol are everywhere in media.

• Teens who see a lot of ads for beer, wine, liquor, and cigarettes admit that it influences them to want to drink and smoke

• the three most advertised cigarette brands are also the most popular ones smoked by teens.

• Do encourage each other• Be practical• Take help from Quran and sunnah• Distribution of ideologies in the youth• Do have patience to face the difficulties• Do hate the deed not the character himself• Prove and cash your skill• Right man over the right place• Youth should be clear about their future• Be at arm length from the bad company!• Do not make your parent as a role model for you
