@kenparry would a more +ve question be 'why should we invest in dance for young people?' Does 'subsidy' = 'handout'?

@Lisekit The commercial reason: an investment in future generations so that UK can compete on world stage. The non-commercial reason: so that dance at all levels remains the preserve of the many, and not simply the few.

@LockInDanceShow so that EVERYONE can enjoy it and so commercialism doesn't control artistic direction.

@TimebankLeeds a cultural society is a better functioning one - starting with young people is key if we want a better future.

@SwindonDance it allows young people to dance, create, learn, perform & grow as both dancers & young people

@HelentipladyRIO gives young people a voice they don't otherwise have. Enables yp able to problem solve and communicate

@ebolland Dance is a way to build confidence, develop creativity, promote group work skills and success can be measured, plus it's FUN

@Lisekit Because the chance to move, create and express brings joy to young people of all ages including groups in very challenging circumstances, and in corners we might not expect until we get there.

@Zoe_Parker that's a tricky one... depends what happens long term with maintaining opportunities for all young people to dance. hate to sound negative but potentially bleak and uneven access if cuts continue...
