Martin has been a practicing professional paper conservator for more than 25 years. His clients include museums, art dealers, private collectors, and galleries across the United States. He began his training in the San Francisco Bay area in 1980, studying under the most prominent pri-vate conservators of the time, and later moved his studios to New York, and eventually to South Florida. Mar-tin has been deeply involved with the rapid evolution of the concepts and methods em-ployed in the field of paper conservation. Martin’s academic career has included stud-ies of art history at the University of Bridgeport, CT, printmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute, conservation studies at the Academy of Professional Art Conservation and Science in California, and at San Francisco State University where he earned a B.Sc. with honors. Martin is an associate member of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Work. Conservation of works on paper is not only Martin’s life work, but his abiding passion.
