By the end of 2013, Nintendo had sold over 101 million Nintendo Wii consoles worldwide.(source: http://www.statisticbrain.com/nintendo-company-statistics/)

This makes the Wiimote, one of the most common computer input devices in the world and also one of the most sophisticated.

The Wiimote's capabilities reach far beyond the uses Nintendo is limiting it to.

The Wiimote communicates with the Wii via a Bluetooth wireless link.

By using the internal Bluetooth wireless link, you can connect your Wiimote to your PC and use it for applications other than the Wii Console.

Wiimote Whiteboard

A Wiimote contains an Infrared (IR) camera and so can track sources of IR light. For example: My IR pen!

Using the IR Camera and the Bluetooth capability , the Wiimote will be able to detect the location of the pen tip and transmit that data to a computer.

Using some special software, detection of the infrared light will be translated as a mouse button press.
