WHY SAGE DAY CHOOSES TO BE AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL
• Sage Day is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools-Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).
• Our accreditations serve to prove Sage Day is an educationally sound institution.• Sage Day is more than capable of being an approved school, but we choose not to be
because we go beyond compliance to achieve excellence.
ACCREDITED NOT JUST APPROVED
The education and wellbeing of our students are at the forefront of all the decisions we make as a learning institution, but we understand why some professionals are curious to know why we don’t choose to be approved. Here are our three tenets: 1. We strive to go beyond basic
compliance and standardization.2. We adhere to a much more
rigorous and focused accreditation process.
3. In accordance with the law, we provide services comparable to those provided by public schools but modified them to meet the specific needs of our students.
• The state standards do not provide Sage Day with the guidelines needed to facilitate a solid therapeutic education nor the depth of emotional and social learning we believe is necessary for our students to succeed.
• Our focus, therefore, goes beyond basic compliance and instead engages in continuous school improvement planning and methodical execution that embraces both our therapeutic and academic goals.
Sage Day’s commitment to writing, reading, and content understanding is time-tested through the success of our programs. Our content area literacy curriculum is aligned with the Common Core Standards and New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
We believe in a personalized commitment to each of our students in a number of areas to prepare them for college and career. These areas include:• Effective transition planning• Provision of work-related experiences• Development of financial literacy• Immersion in school-wide community
service• Cultivation of academic resiliency
through problem-based learningWe strive to have our students’ social and emotional learning be an active part of their education.
• With the support of passionate teachers and Certified Sage Clinicians, Sage Day seeks to challenge our students and hold them to the highest standards.
• However, we also believe you are what you teach. As part of our accreditation process, we must demonstrate our strict adherence to the rigorous MSA-CESS Standards for Accreditation.
