The service was created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005. In November 2006, it was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion. .YouTube is a website designed for sharing video. Millions of users around the world have created accounts on the site that allow them to upload videos that anyone can watch. Every minute of every day, more than 35 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube.

• YouTube is the most successful video sharing website of the 21st centaury. • Millions of people have access to tit daily, so there is a better chance of someone

viewing our music video.• Its easy to access and simple to upload videos. • The quality of the videos is amazing, it goes from 144p to 1080p and some videos with

the correct recording equipment can upload 4k videos. • It has a subscription feature which allows people to subscribe to your channel so they

are informed when you upload a video.• The biggest advantage as an AS student is that to upload our video on YouTube there

are no costs. Its completely free.

ISSUES WITH YOUTUBE YouTube is dominated by huge, successful music artists and because of their success they have a lot of views and subscribers

Its hard to get people to view your video unless you pay money to monetize your video to promote it.

Another issue is that YouTube has very strict copyright restrictions, so if there is something in our music video that breaches the copyright and patents law then the video could be taken down.

Its website was launched on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg with his Harvard College roommates. Facebook is a popular free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues. The site, which is available in 37 different languages.

• It has been calculated that there are 500 million users on Facebook and 250 million people actually use their Facebook.

• It is useful for independent artists and companies such Shady Entertainment as you can create pages to promote things such as music and events.

• Its most popular with people who are aged between 12-25 years of age. This is useful as my target audience is teens.

• There are currently 1 million active advertisers on Facebook.• It is easy to promote as you can ask other more successful pages to promote your page

which also merges two different audeicens. • Its free to use and you can also pay a small amount to promote your page to a selected

number of people from 4000- 20000 people depending on how much you pay.• Recently Facebook has become popular for sharing videos and a lot of videos go viral.

ISSUES WITH FACEBOOK Like YouTube there is a lot of competition with other people and pages who have millions of likes.

You can be restricted to your friends list in terms of inviting people to like your content, therefore, promotion through other pages and people you don’t know is vital.

VIMEOWhy promote on vimeo?Vimeo is a video-sharing website in which users can upload, share and view videos. Vimeo was founded in November 2004 by Jake Lodwick and Zach Klein. As of December 2013, Vimeo attracts more than 100 million unique visitors per month and more than 22 million registered users. Fifteen percent of Vimeo’s traffic comes from mobile devices. As of February 2013, Vimeo accounted for 0.11% of all Internet bandwidth, following fellow video sharing sites YouTube and Facebook.

• To buy an account on this site could be useful as you will be exposed to more premium video sharing and can collaborate with existing film makers. Therefore, more opportunities for collaboration is available.

• You could extract more ideas and interpretations from more professional-looking films, rather than the amateur films.

ISSUES WITH VIMEO• You have to pay to share your video with advance options. There is the free erosion, but

there are distinct limitations such as file type, file size and quality that can be shown.• The whole point of creating a music video for an independent artist is promoting it on a

low budget, however with vimeo they yearly subscription is £59.99 which is too much. Therefore, sites like YouTube and Facebook are seemingly more appealing for the promotion of my product.
