What makes a great artist?

To me a great artist is:

Someone who aspires to be an inspiration their target audience to be who

they are. For example Beyoncé is an inspiration to many women as she

stands for women’s rights being equal to that if a man.

Someone who shows determinationand dedication to strive for their

goal of being successful no matter what. For example there are many

people that do not like Lady Gaga, whether it is her music or personality,

but she still tries hard to shock her audience time and time again by

working hard on her music, costume, set design and performance.

A great artist needs to be able to entertain whatever personal or media

related issues are surrounding them. For example Miley Cyrus, she may

have multiple personal issues displayed in the media but never fails to

entertain her audience in one form or another.

One of the most important qualities of a great artist is that they

acknowledge their fans and know that their success is in the hands of

them. For example when on tour The Wanted like to pick one person each

from the crowd and get them on stage to sing with/to them.

They need to be relatable – if they’re relatable then fans will be willing

to give the artist a chance knowing that they aren’t so different from each

other if they have things in common. For example contestants from The

X-Factor may have a relative amount of success due to the fact that when

on the show their story and background is shared with the world, this

means that fans feel closer to the artist.

Another attribute a great artist should have is being ambitious – this is

because if they do not have goals to reach in the industry then they won’t

work as hard to become successful.

Being the same person on and off camera is important because then

fans will believe the artists lyrics when they release music, it shows that

they aren’t fake and are genuine. An example of an artist that is the same

on and off camera is Ariana Grande because she is very genuine to her

fans and is relatively new to worldwide fame.
