The idea of a music video is to be another creative and innovative platform for the artist to express themselves onto. It's become so iconic over the last century and almost every popular song has a music video alongside it.

With the proliferation of camera equipment, music videos have looked more beautiful as ever with quality reaching 4K, and also gimmicks like 3D and also 360 videos. Obviously, when music videos first started the quality of them were not so good, but this didn't stop musicians like Bessie Smith and Eddie Cantor from conveying their creativity. Now looking back at their videos, it creates a sense of historical nostalgia , giving us an insight into life in the twenties.

Advance in technologyWith the technological advancing, editing has become one aspect many artists rely on to help represent their idea the most. Equipment like the green screen aid in creating realistic images or even fantasy type settings to help the music video be as unique as possible. Along with post-production, the artists can select filters, construct CGI, alter the colours and pace of the music videos to create certain moods and tones. Most notable unique music videos that use post-production is "Scream" by Michael Jackson ft. Janet Jackson and also "Californication" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Advancing in the way videos are conceivedAlong with the proliferation, miniaturization and personalization of technology music videos are so much easier to be invested compared to how it was sixty years ago. For example, overlooking at all the platforms we can now watch music videos is incredible - from our smart phone, to our TV and now even to our watches. There’s no way you cannot watch the latest Taylor Swift music video because almost every every-day object is now smartly utilised. However, we still keep our roots and watching music videos on MTV, back in the eighties you would have to sit and wait until your favourite musician’s video would appear. Not now you don’t, with applications like YouTube, Vevo and Vimeo, you can instantly watch the videos.
