What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
Clara Schjødt
Websites and Software
Here are the websites and software I used in the process of creating my magazine:
o Blogger o Slideshareo YouTube o Survey Monkey o Googleo Internet Explorer o Microsoft PowerPointo Microsoft Wordo Adobe InDesigno Adobe Photoshopo Adobe Bridge
Hardware
Here are the hardware I used in the process of creating my magazine:
o Computers at collegeo Personal Laptopo Camera
Canon 5D mark IIo Memory Sticko iPhoneo Audio Recorder
What have I learned?
o Bloggero I have learned how to create a blog using blogger.com, how to post text, photos, YouTube-videos and
PowerPoint slide shares. I have also learned a bit about design and HTML codes.
o Slideshareo This webpage was extremely helpful, and I have learned how to upload PowerPoint presentations
that can be enabled in my blog posts.
o YouTubeo I needed to use YouTube in order to upload my interview and from that I have learned how to
upload, edit and share short videos on my blog.
o Survey Monkeyo From this brilliant webpage, I have learned how to create surveys, share the link, look at the answers
and create meaning from it that help my work.
o Adobe bridgeo I have learned how to make a contact sheet in this program, and how to save it so that I could upload
it on my blog. I uploaded it through google docs.
o Google Docso I have learned how to upload PDF-files on my blog, such as the contact sheet for my photographs.
What have I learned?
o Photoshopo I had quite a lot of knowledge in Photoshop already,
but I have learned so much more about the process and the time that is spent on single page in a magazine. I have learned about different font types, about tools in Photoshop and what makes a element pop out and draw attention. I have also learned more about colour use – what colour looks best with what, and I have learned the shortcuts for many functions.
o InDesigno I have used InDesign earlier, but not as much as
Photoshop. I found InDesign very easy to use when it came to creating my layout, especially on the double page spread. I couldn’t place a circular photo in the middle of my interview in Photoshop, and was therefore forced to use InDesign. This worked out great and I now have a much bigger knowledge about the use of the program.
Camera and Memory Stick
• I have owned my camera for many years, and know how to use it quite well. I might have improved a bit when it comes to taking pictures of people inside studios, as this was a whole new experience and something I have never done before.
• My memory stick can only store up to 8 GB, so I had to delete and save things on different computers a lot. This was really annoying, but I learned how important it is to save files on different places to backup files and to avoid suddenly loosing it all. I have used DropBox a tiny bit, but the webpage keeps crashing and therefore isn’t the world’s most reliable storing site.
