To write a good story you should choose the right character, plot, descriptions and dialogues. Also If you don’t have a good vocabulary it will be difficult to express

yourself.

There’s more to writing a story than telling a story. Writing involves

choosing words to create tension and stir emotion.

When you already have an understanding about the idea of the topic of your story, you don’t

have to worry much about the characters, details and dialogues.

Think about mad situations that

I realized that in English class we where writing flash fiction, not short stories..

To be able to write a short story you need to have a good

understanding about the idea of your story. With the idea of

what your story is about, you can begin to write.

You need to know how to use punctuations, since they help

you to understand the reading better. The punctuation tells

you when to stop, slow down and how to express your

tone! (“?”,”!”)

Also you must know how long a short story is because if you

over write it, then it wouldn’t be a short story, instead it

would be a novelette.

Having good vocabulary would help the reader to be able

to comprehend better. A good vocabulary helps you to

express yourself more. It is not 100% necessary because you

can also express yourself by simple words, but it would be

better and more interesting if you use long or short words

that you never heard of.

Grammar is essential to write a story. If your story contains

grammatical mistakes your readers are going to have a

hard time understanding it.

In Conclusion to be able to write a short

story you need to know:

Nothing is more distracting than being yanked out of a good story because a word is misspelled or a punctuation mark is misplaced.
