IES DAMIÀ HUGUET Damià Huguet public secondary school is situated in Campos, a village with a population of 8,500 inhabitants in the south of Mallorca, Spain. This area is undergoing an increasing demographic development. For this reason the number of foreign students is increasing at our school. On the one hand, we have got a large number of German students who live in Mallorca because their families have chosen to try the Mallorcan lifestyle, which mainly revolves around the sun, the beach good food and a relaxing stress-free environment. On the other hand we are seeing an increasing number of students coming from South-America, the North of Africa and Eastern Europe whose families have come to Mallorca for economic reasons. Therefore, our school is rapidly becoming a multicultural institution. Two official languages, Catalan and Spanish, are spoken in our Autonomous Community. Both languages are taught and learnt at schools from the early age of six, Catalan being the general language for the school curriculum. Catalan (or its dialectal variety Mallorquí) is also our mother tongue. English is a compulsory subject from the first school year of the primary stage (6 years old). At secondary school, German is offered as an optional subject to all levels (from 12 to 18 years old). The name of the school is due to a famous contemporary poet from our village. Our high school is quite young, it was founded 1996. Now we are 480 students and 64 teachers We offer compulsory and post compulsory education studies (12-18 year
