Now among those who went up to worship at the feast [of Passover] were some Greeks. So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him,

‘Sir, we want to see Jesus’.

Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.

And Jesus answered them, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.

Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also.

If anyone serves me, the Father will honour him.

John 12:20-26

“We want to see Jesus!”

…a veil lies on their heart.

16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,

are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:15b-18

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,

who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge

of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:6

[I pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,

may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened…

What does

look like?

Page 9: We Want To See Jesus

I turned to see the voice that spoke with me.

And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man,

clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.

14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace,

and His voice as the sound of many waters;

16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.

17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead.

Revelation 1:12-17

#One thing

One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek:That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.

Psalm 27:4Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do,

forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:3-14Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said,

“Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”And Jesus answered and said to her,

“Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10

“I am loved by God. And I love God.

Therefore, I am successful.”

Then one of the scribes… asked Him, ‘Which is the first commandment of all?’

Jesus answered him, ‘The first of all the commandments is “Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.

And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul,

with all your mind, and with all your strength.”

This is the first commandment.

And the second, like it, is this: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself”.

There is no other commandment greater than these.

Mark 12:28-34

1. Loving God Is The First Commandment Mark 12:28-34

2. This Is More Important Than The Second Commandment“Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things,

but one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that” Luke 10:25-42

3. This Is Offensive To Some PeopleWhy was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor? John 12:1-8

4. So We Need The Right Theological Paradigm: Jesus Is Our Bridegroom, We Are His BrideLazarus sat at the table with Jesus. Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of

Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair, and the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. John 12:2-3While the king is at his table, my spikenard sends forth its fragrance. Song of Songs 1:12

5. Being An Extravagant Lover Of Jesus Is Not Just For The LadiesNicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came,

bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. John 19:39

6. The Gospel Is What Tranforms Cynical Men Into Besotted Lovers Of GodJesus: “Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Nicodemus: “How can a man be ‘born again’ when he is old?

Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb?” John 3:1-16
