ADVANTAGES OF THE VIRTUAL CLASSROOMThere are several more advantages of using the virtual classroom• Virtual classroom remove the need to travel to a location in which to participate in the course or lesson.• Virtual classroom can be accessed from any computer that has the necessary software, hardware, internet connection and internet browser requirements in order to participate in the virtual classroom.• Virtual classrooms are accessible to students with physical disabilities, which is an advantage over the real classroom, as they access it from home.

Page 7: Virtual classroom

•Students can access the course materials and activities in the virtual classroom at a time that is most convenient to them.• The teacher is not required to work from an office or classroom to instruct lessons or organize material and lessons; this can be done from anywhere where they have access to a computer with an internet connection and other necessary software/hardware which is an advantage.• Electronic context can be updated more efficiently than printed material and at a lower test which saves the teacher time and money when preparing and adjusting material to suit their lessons and courses within their virtual classroom.

Page 8: Virtual classroom

• Large numbers of students can benefit from distance learning.• Scheduling problems of classrooms is lessened or eliminated.• Cost effective since maintenance on rooms is not involved.• Particularly applicable to rural and remote settings.

DISADVANTAGES• Limited offerings: the choice

of courses is limited at present.

At the same time adventures in learning call for creative and potent environments where individuals share meaningful knowledge and experiences in constructing new information and ideas.

Page 12: Virtual classroom

•These adventures foster mutual collaboration that allows learners to apply newly acquired learning in the design of insightful, cognitive processing without detachment/ obscurity from real-life situations. • A judicious blend of both traditional and virtual learning environment with special attention to students’ needs and satisfaction can create constructive and creative learners, teaching community and learned society.
