DESCRIPTION
Backchannel is when face to face communication is happening, students have the ability to respond, ask questions, post comments and contribute to both the teacher led discussion and to their peer’s responses, comments and contributions through a community chat room. It is this layering of conversation that is known as Backchannel, a media and information literacy of the 21st Century. The Ultranet contains its own community chat room which can be ideal to use in the classroom as a tool for backchannel.

How to use Ultranet Community Chat
Nicole Barnes – EDF 6447 / Rangeview Primary
Go to Actions, Add Application, then type in Community Chat Room, drag it across on your page
Once it is on your page, you are able to login. Start ‘chatting’ at the bottom of the page
Participants in the chat room
Always press send for others to see your message
History – gives details and chat history
Leave – to leave chat room
