Dark colonies with metallic sheen are verified total coliforms
Fecal coliforms: • tested simultaneously• Dark blue colonies are
positive

Verification:• Lauryl Tryptose-Total coliform • Test positive for total coliforms
if gas produced within 48hr
Confirmed Phase• Brilliant Green Bile Broth 2%• Positive for fecal coliforms;gas
production within 48hr
Gas production within 18hr goes to confirmed phase
