A noun modifier is a noun that is used as an adjective.

It follows the rules for an adjective, and not the rules for

a noun.

For example:

I’m taking a grammar course.

I’ve already finished two other grammar courses.

An adjective modifier is an ordinary adjective that is not

also a noun.

A noun modifier goes after an adjective modifier.

For example:

I’m taking a difficult grammar course.
