Unit 7 (TASK 1) ONLINE TRAVEL BROCHURE:

A walk through MY COUNTRY: COLOMBIA

To create an online travel brochure about a Colombian city.

PLANNING

• Before you start working, organize yourself in couples and look up for information and suggest information.

Go to a travel agency or surf the web and study some sample travel advertisements to get ideas for your own weekend getaway. You can go online: www.lonelyplanet.com, www.fodors.com, or www.roughguides.com for some ideas.

TASK 1:Researching

Pay attention to the text structures that are common to brochures. Look for adjectives describing the places and/or phrases used in the brochures.

The research of information must be done at home.

TASK 2: Gathering information

Choose a city, then select four (4) of the following topics ,and research facts about them; then save pictures to make the brochure great.

You need to research:Interesting facts: What makes the city attractive to locals and foreigners alike?

(history, neighborhoods , parks, etc)

Events: Which events have marked the history of the city?

Foods: What is the local cuisine of the city? /desserts,

sweets, fruits

Landmarks: What can tourists see if they visit the place?

TASK 2: Gathering information

You need to research:Well-Known Colombians: Who are/have been the best well-known people in

the city? Or Colombians who have most contributed to

the development or welfare if the city?

Sports: When you think of the city, which sports/sport teams come to your mind?

Night life: Which places can you go out at night?

-Once you have collected all the information about the city, you must compile it so that you can get a better picture of your work:

- Make a list of specific places and or information you plan to advertise.-Choose 1 or 2 pictures per topic (sites, events, map, location, weather, interesting facts, contact info).

-Make a list of any adjectives that best describe the picture.

- Write 1 or 2 sentences or phrases ONLY to accompany the selected picture.
