Question was raised about certain Core classes coming from some Texas two year schools articulating as TRAN 9Txx (no rule in the table for the course)
This was due to our getting behind in updating transfer articulations for two year schools in Texas
New courses were added by these schools, but rules were not added to our tables
We now have added two new staff members, and we will be updating our articulations
We are establishing a timeline for updating our schools in the transfer articulation tables
Primary feeders: every year
Etc.
Transfer Guides We have been working on these for several months,
with your help
The guides are based on Texas Common Course Numbers in relation to each UNT degree program: University Core
College/Degree Requirements
Major/Program Requirements
Additionally, Four Year Plans are being developed for each of the guides (from the TCCN perspective)
We are getting close to the point where we will start posting these guides on-line
New: Transfer Equivalency System (TES)
UNT has purchased a license to this on-line system
TES allows us to find course equivalency information in a streamlined & automated fashion
It also goes out and finds changes in course descriptions, as well as adds/deletes in course catalogs at transfer schools
This data will eventually be synced back into the DARwin transfer articulation rules
We have been working to prepare new encoding that will calculate the key NCAA certification elements for student athletes:
1.8/1.9/2.0 GPA standards
40%/60%/80% standards
6/18/24 standards
As of this week, we now have an established project plan with a schedule for testing
Primary testing will begin this Fall, with key testing to occur after Fall grade reporting
Question regarding Returner process: The term we are now using is „Returner‟ as opposed
to „Readmit‟ Student does fill out admission paperwork, but we
consider all Formerly attending students to still be „Continuing‟ for paperwork/app processing
The process “updates their status” back to Active
Difference between in-person vs. online app Online app takes at least 72 hours to be received
In-person app is received same-day In special circumstances, could be started same-day
Incomplete apps are held and not processed
Question was raised about this process
Once Registrar‟s Office is notified by the Graduate School that a newly admitted 2nd
Bachelors student has data to enter, we place the student in line for entry All available transcripts are entered
For dealing with issues on 2nd Bach students: If the transcripts are not in imaging but the student
was fully admitted, contact the Grad School Give them some time for imaging processing
If the transcripts are in imaging, contact RegOff
The Registrar‟s Office accepts any Official transcript, even if the sending institution had previously sealed the transcript in an envelope
The student or an advisor can remove it prior to submitting it to the Registrar‟s Office
This would allow for making a personal copy
Key point: Admissions/Registrar needs to receive the original Official transcript as quickly as possible after the transcript is produced
General info:
The Registrar‟s Office runs a report at least once per semester to locate course duplications
This report finds duplications based on course identities on native UNT registration, and from transfer credit after it moves from DARwin into EIS
There are certain scenarios that the report will be unable to find/connect:
Special Problems/Topics where the topic repeated; identical but non-equivalent courses; transfer courses left as TRAN9T**; and various other situations
Therefore, except on extremely straightforward dups (ENGL 1310/ENGL 1310), you may choose to go ahead and submit a dup form as a backup to insure the dup is identified
Also, since the process only runs once or twice a semester, if a student has a dup that could impact academic status (such as new transfer work), you may want to go ahead and get the form in so that the status is updated immediately
