Objectives

1. Differentiate the two types of energy;

2. Observe how energy changes from potential to kinetic energy ; and

3. Recognize your potentials.

ENERGY- is the ability to do work- enables us to do many

things- is the capacity to cause

changes

Types of Energy

Potential Energy- is stored energy. - some objects may

not be moving but they are capable of doing something because they have stored energy.

- energy at rest. - also characterized

by the position and weight of the object.

Kinetic Energy- is the energy of movement or energy in motion.

- when an object started to move, its potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.

- the faster the object moves, the higher is its kinetic energy.

Think about this:

When does the potential energy becomes kinetic? Give examples of the change in the type of energy.

Explore your POTENTIALS

o Your POTENTIALS are your skills and talents. How will you be able to transform your potential into motion?

o How can you improve and use your POTENTIALS?
