What is AmeriCorps?
True North Overview
Minimum Qualifications• Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and U.S. Citizens, nationals,
or lawful resident aliens. • They must verify that they have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
or are actively working toward their high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• The potential member must have an interest in National Service and a commitment to serve the entire year of service.
The mission of True North AmeriCorps (TNAC) is to enhance the future success of
at-risk children by increasing the number of positive adults in their lives.
TNAC’s service year runs from September 1 – August 31. Some positions end on June 15.
True North AmeriCorps members…
Support community-based mentoring
Provide out-of-school time programming
Tutor, primarily focusing on K-8 literacy
Mobilize ongoing volunteers
Organize service projects
Member Activities What Do Members Do?

• Received on the 15th and last day of the month• It is taxed• Government benefits may be affected by enrollment
Educational Award • Taxed as you use it• You have 7 years to use it • Members 55 and older can transfer award to child or grandchild

Application Process Start The Year Off Right
Submit online application
Set time for informational screening with TNAC staff
Select up to five sites that fit your qualifications and interests by visiting our website at www.truenorthamericorps.org
Call/email site(s) of interest for an interview by using the contact information on the position description
Once offered a position and you accept, notify TNAC staff (references and background check must be completed)
Attend mandatory orientation on September 1, to officially become an AmeriCorps member
Please Note: Inform Program Coordinator if you withdraw from the process Process is not closed until all positions are filled
