According to a 2012 report from the Harvard Program on Education Policy and Government that explored U.S. and international trends in student performance, the U.S. fell directly in the middle of the countries studied. Among the top performing countries? Hong Kong, Singapore, and Korea.
The U.S. also falls close to the middle of the 65 nations surveyed in a study by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that focuses on test scores.
