TOOLS OF THE EARLY MANBy: Mary Heale
INTRODUCTION
Most of the tools that we have the tools that we have today were originally made by the people that we came from. Some of those tools are the harpoon and spears. Even though we came from these apes/humans, we are different in many different ways, not only in looks.
AUSTRALOPITHECUS AFARENSIS
To small a brain to make tools. Used already made tools like a twig. (They
would stick it into a termite hole, and have it come out covered in bugs.
Also would use things like stones to crack open nuts.
Couldn’t make hunting tools, so they gathered and scavenged for already dead animals.
Not yet discovered fire
HOMO HABILIS
First to make tools Mostly stone and wood tools and weapons
with sharpened ends.May have used bone tools
Can use fire if it has already been made by something else
Some of the tools were scrapers, primitive hammers, sidescraper, and knife edges
Started the stone age because their tools were made out of stone
HOMO ERECTUS First to make and control fire. (used tools to do so.)
They made it by twirling a short sharpened stick in a wooden groove filled with wood shavings to start the fire. Because they could make fire, they could live in colder climates
May have used tools to make rafts to travel over waters
Used more complex tools such as axes, and long distance tools like spears
By using bones and rocks to chip away at pieces of flint, the homo erectus were able to make blades for cutting and scraping
HOMO SAPIENS
Made stone, knives which is a process that takes nine steps, and about 250 blows with a hammer to make
Made the first throwing weapons such as harpoons and spears
Used their tools to make more complex structures to sleep in and use for shelters when they didn’t live in caves
Advanced tools that we still use today Made tools to bury their dead
HOMO SAPIENS CRO-MAGNON
Used the most complex tools to make canoes and rafts
Also used tools to make traps to help them hunt and get food with not very much effort
Also made tools to sew, make drums, and to draw, and any other things for entertainment like that
Made tools to help them make jewellery, clothing, and bow and arrows
Made fishhooks
HOMO SAPIENS SAPIENS
Us! Have made the most superior tools that we
still use today. Some of those tools have become better tools like the computer. The computers and phones and stuff like that are one of the newest inventions.
CONCLUSION
Overall, all of these people have made tools that we probably wouldn’t be alive without them. They have tools to help you think like computers, some to help you with warmth, and many others for things that would be hard to live without.
From this, to this then FINALLY this
