Alfred Hitchcock is a very well known British film director born on 13/08/1899 who is most famous for his thriller film ‘Psycho’. The reason that this film is so famous is because it was the first film to use all of the conventions of a thriller within one film; in effect creating the thriller genre. During his life Hitchcock earned many awards including a Bafta. One of Hitchcock’s specialties was using camera shots and movements to create a maximum amount of anxiety and tension within the viewer. He also created twist endings that had every viewer surprised at the end of many of his films.

David Fincher is an American film director born on 28/08/1962 and created the famous film ‘Seven’ (Se7en). In 2008 he won the award for best director in the Golden Globes for his film ‘the social network’. He has also won and been nominated for many other awards. In a lot of his work he tends to use dark colours and lighting to create a very gloomy atmosphere to the film.

Jonathan Demme is an American film director born in 22/02/1944. One of his most famous films is ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ made in 1991. He then won an Oscar for this film for best director. He has then been nominated for several other awards after this. In this film he was able to make very scary yet realistic antagonists that made every audience cringed with fear. This is one of the reasons that this film was so famous.
