Artis Miller is a tech specialist (medical technologist) who works in the Michael J. Palmieri metabolic lab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In simple terms his job is to test samples for children with inborn metabolic diseases. Metabolic disease is caused by a genetic birth defect that interrupts the body’s metabolism. Artis Miller has also recently become an EMT and is training to become a volunteer firefighter. He graduated from Morgan State University with a degree in biology. He grew up in Southwest Philadelphia and attended the public schools in the area.
