Long, long time ago the king Krak
ruled Poland. He lived in the
castle in Cracow called Wawel.
Once upon a time a terrible
dragon appeared in the city. It
was big and green. He lived in a
dark cave under the Wawel
castle. The dragon wanted to eat
a cow every day. Soon all cows in
the city were eaten and the
people started being afraid of
their own lives. There were many
daredevils who wanted to kill the
monster but nobody did it. The
people lost hope for the rescue.
One poor boy, a shoemaker
decided to organize a trap. He
made a sheep filled with sulphur.
The dragon didn’t know about it
and ate the sheep. He became
very thirsty and started to drink
water from the river. Finally, he
drank so much that he burst into
pieces and died. Everyone in
Cracow were happy. The boy
became a hero and he married
the king’s daughter. They lived
long and happily and had many
children. Once you are in Cracow,
you can visit the dragon’s cave
under the Wawel castle…
