WHAT IS THE TEXAS STaR CHART?
Texas has created the STaR (School Technology
and Readiness) Chart, which is a self-assessment
used by campuses and districts. It is aligned
with the Long-Range Plan for Technology and is
used for planning, budgeting, and evaluating
technology progress.
THE 4 KEY AREAS OF THE TEXAS STaR CHART

III. Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support
IV. Infrastructure for Technology
I. Teaching and Learning
The Teaching and Learning domain asks questions from the
following 6 focus areas:
Patterns of Classroom Use
Frequency/Design of Instructional Setting Using Digital Content
Content Area Connections
Technology Applications TEKS Implementation
Student Master of TEKS Implementation
Online Learning
Educator Preparation and Development
The Educator Preparation and Development has the
following 6 focus areas:

LEVELS OF PROGRESS
The Texas STaR Chart has 4 levels of progress. They
are divided into Early Tech, Developing Tech,
Advanced Tech, and Target Tech. Target Tech is the
level we want to be on in order to meet the needs of
the Long-Range Plan for Technology and No Child
Left Behind.

SUMMARY
Today’s students need technology in order to be
active and productive in this century. Teachers
need to help by incorporating technology into their
lessons and lives. This will only be possible with
appropriate support and training for everyone.
