The secret ingredient to being A SUCCESSFUL MANAGERThe missing link to better leadership
The promotion dilemma
• Manager A has all the right skills to be a successful one
• Manager A graduated from an Ivy league Business school
• Manager A is an exemplary team-player
• So does Manager B with almost identical credentials
• Manager B also graduated from a reputable B-school with a number of successful CEOs in their alumni list
• Manager B is shy and withdrawn when it comes to working in a team
Who do you think has better chances of being promoted?
Manager A is the right choice
• In a rigorously competitive business environment employers do not just look for managers with professional expertise and years of experience, they also look at other aspects like character traits, communicational skills and interpersonal skills.
• Co-workers and clients are able to build rapport with those managers who have an approachable and mentoring character trait. Those that reflect that they genuinely care for the development of the employees.
• A good combination of interpersonal and communicational skills help leaders to steer their teams into the right direction to the ultimate completion of the project.
• With the right combination of these skills one will be able to stand out and advance faster in their career.
In this presentation
We will share these essential communicational and interpersonal skills that will help you emerge as a successful leader
Communicational skills must be used in 4 different formats:
Communicational skills
Type A - for customers
Type B- for subordinates
Type C – for superiors
Type D – for co-workers
You must build positive relationships with your customers to…
Make sure they keep coming back
How to maintain rapport with customers when things take a
downturn ?
Here is a list of things you can do to maintain a positive relationship with your customers:• The first is to reiterate the customer’s views• Then follow this by taking prompt action to
restore his trust• Listen to what the customer needs first• List the pros and cons to camouflage the
shortcomings
• Reiterating customer’s views: you can begin by saying that “You are right we did not deliver your order on time”.
• Prompt action: you could say “I will make a call right away to ensure they are delivered today”.
• Customers’ needs first: after listening to his/her needs you could persuade them by saying “I have another idea about how you can get your order”.
• Pros and cons in a crisis: You could approach the client by saying, “If you get the order tomorrow you will be able to meet the deadline, but if you give us 1 more day then the order will not be rushed, hence, won’t compromise the quality”.
If you can help your customer’s in times of crises
Then you will be able to maintain a positive relationship with them well.
