The Endlessly Exciting Story of Jeffy the Goldfish
Jeffy was an ordinary goldfish with orange scales and big eyes. He was ordinary down to
his very gills, however, Jeffy had a terrific memory for a goldfish. Jeffy could remember
everything as far back as just before he hatched from his egg. Within a few hours of hatching,
Jeffy noticed that the other fish in the bowl couldn’t remember anything for more than seven or
eight minutes. He realized that he was different from everyone else in this small tank. Jeffy
became tired of his every day routine of introducing himself every so often and getting fed the
terrible flakes that the Great Pink One would give to them twice a day. One exceptionally boring
day Jeffy noticed a new fishbowl next to the one he was in. It was then that this intelligent,
young goldfish had a wondrous and daring idea. He decided he would leave this boring lot of
ordinary goldfish and start a new, more exciting life for himself. So Jeffy went to the farthest
point away from the other bowl and used every muscle in his tiny body to leave this life behind.
Suddenly, there was no water and no way to breathe but this only lasted one long, agonizing
moment and he was in his own fishbowl. This was great! No more endless reintroductions or
unfinished conversations. There was so much room, too! He could swim wherever he wanted.
It was wonderful for about an hour. That was when the loneliness kicked in. There was nobody
to talk to or play with. So it was then that Jeffy decided that he would go back to the old
fishbowl. He prepared himself for the jump and erupted out of the water.
