This medium close up with the use of the quick cut helps to connote fear and the fact that the protagonist is unsure of what's out there and this helps to create anxiety and excitement for the audience as are unsure of what exactly is going on, which is good as they are sophisticated and want to solve enigmas.

This medium long shot at eye level connotes that something may be watching him due to the snapping of a twig noise in the previous shot, also with the use of the quick cut this connotes urgency and fear again form the protagonist and that he is in a dangerous world.

This medium shot helps to connote their eagerness to survive and how they are grateful to possibly find a cure for the virus. This also helps to show companionship and that they need to work together to survive which could be seen as a foreshadowing to their demise and death.

This medium shot connotes Ryan’s anger towards not being able to get a clean sample and due to this having a long take could connote how they have done this so many times and may just mean that they have very little hope left.

This medium long shot connotes that the Ryan is annoyed and upset and has lost control of the situation due to him not being in a dominant position and turning away from the camera.

The use of low key lighting helps to connote that the danger that is coming up is un-seeable and cannot be stopped helping to create fear in Ryan. The use of slowly tracking back connotes how he is being lured into danger. This is exaggerated through the use of the non-diegetic score as the whispers build up and create a creepy but enticing lure for Ryan to follow.

The medium long shot with the use of the layering over of the close up of Ryan in the hazmat suit connotes how the effects of the virus are becoming more evident and that he is starting to struggle and isn’t controlling the space he is in once again.

The use of high key lighting and long shot at a low angle connotes the intensity of the viruses affects and that he has lost all control and the danger is now very real and will lead to some consequences. It could be seen as ironic how the male has lost his control as males are stereotypically suppose to be dominant and this subverts it completely. Also the use of the non-diegetic sound connotes discomfort for Ryan as he is caught out of the blue.

This over the shoulder shot connotes how the intensity of the virus taking its affects, the low key lighting again shows how he is in danger and must try to battle it to survive. This is exaggerated even more through the use of diegetic sound as we distort his voice to make it sound more evil and show that the virus is physically and mentally changing him.

This high angle close up connotes how he is weak and not in control due to the virus and the flickers of light help to signify the hope he had go past and leave him.

This close up of Ryan connotes how he is saddened by the fact that Jane has to kill him and is trying to make her do it while the effects of the virus still mess with his mind which shows his true love for Jane and how he wants her to be safe. Also the shot/reverse shot of this shot and the next one connotes the breakdown of their relationship and that they will no longer be together.

This close up of Jane at eye help connotes how she is in power however she is still upset and will regret what she is about to do, which helps to show again how much they care for each other and that they need each other to survive.
