WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?

• Technology is the application of science to solve problems.

• Technology is the making, usage and knowledge of tools, machine, techniques, crafts and system of organization to solve problems.

TYPES OF TECHNOLOGY

• Simple Technology- Has two or less simple machines. Example of simple technology include knife, brush.

• Advanced Technology- Has several simple machines example microwave oven, electric iron, washing machine.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

1. Reduces the time it takes to perform a task.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

2. Removes drudgery from a task (amount of energy used up to perform a task.)

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

2. Allows you to perform more than one task at the same time (dovetailing/multi task). Example you can cook while using the washing machine to wash your clothes.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

4. Improves the quality of the finished product.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

5. May improve the health of individuals because food can cooked and stored more easily and prevent the transmission of germs.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

6.Increases the performance rate of tasks that can be performed with a specified time.

DISADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

1.May negatively impact the environment for example CFC from refrigerators.

DISADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

2. Technology some cause unemployment as machine replaces human labor.

DISADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

3.Technology can cause individuals to become inactive because the use of the devices does not require much energy to be expended.

SUMMARY

• What is Technology?• Technology is the application of science (the

combination of the scientific method and material) to solve problems.

• Technology is the making, usage and knowledge of tools, machine, techniques, crafts and system of organization to solve problems

TYPES OF TECHNOLOGY

• Technology may be classified as:• Simple technology-has two or less simple

machines. Example of simple technology include knife.

• Advanced Technology- has several simple machines example microwave oven, electric iron.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

1. Reduces the time it takes to perform a task for example an emails transmits a message faster than sending via postal service.

2. Removes drudgery from a task (amount of energy used up to perform a task.)

3. Allows you to perform more than one task at the same time. Example you can cook while using the washing machine to wash your clothing.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY4. Improves the quality of the finished product. The use

of the serger and sewing machines make the finished product of an article neater which can boost the demand for the product.

5.May improve the health of individuals because food can cooked and stored more easily and prevent s the transmission of germs.

6. Increases the performance rate of tasks that can be performed with a specified time. Example sewing a dress by hand might take an entire day. However with the aid of sewing machine one individual can produce ten times that amount for the day.

DISADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY

1. May negatively impact the environment for example CFC from refrigerators.

2. Technology some cause unemployment as machine replaces human labour.

3. Technology can cause individuals to become inactive because the use of the devices does not require much energy to be expended.
