Strategy 1 = Scenario/Anecdote Introduction

The writer provides hypothetical or personal examples to illustrate the topic

As I entered the science classroom today, I smelled an unusual odor. Upon further investigation I found out that we would be dissecting frogs today. Yes! I love being able to work with my hands when learning new things! Therefore, science is the best class.

Strategy 2 = Inquiry/Questioning Introduction

The writer asks thought-provoking, maybe even edgy questions to capture the reader’s interest.

Were you ever in a science lab where you got to mix different things together and the result would be a small explosion? How about being able to dissect a once living thing to learn about the different body parts? There is no substitute for this type of hands-on learning, and science has a lot to offer in this area. This is why I believe that science is the best class.

Strategy 3 = Preparatory Definition/ Explanation

The writer defines or explains the subject before discussing it in detail.

Science is the study of knowledge of the physical or

material world gained through observation and experimentation. Other than science class, no

other academic class can imitate this type of learning.

This is why I believe that science is the best class.
