Anatomy? It is exciting that you are taking anatomy, especially since you don’t have to This year we will cover the human body in detail. As we study the eleven organ systems I hope you will see how complex and intricate we are. We have been designed by God and are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). It is my desire that this course will give you an appreciation for the human body and put you in awe of our Creator.

Grades are calculated quarterly as follows:

Opportunities 70%Labs 20%Homework 10%

Total 100%

Opportunities: Includes both tests and quizzes. Tests are over a chapter (or two) at a time and worth a 100 points. Any material gone over in class, homework or labs is testable. As the semester goes on previously tested material may reappear on a test at any time. About 10% of each test will cover past material. This will encourage you to retain the information throughout the course of the year. Tests are announced around 1 week in advance. Tests that are missed will be made up outside of class, preferably during study hall. Missing more class time to make-up a test is not practical. Furthermore, if you are absent the day before a test you are still responsible for taking the test on the test day since they are always announced in advance. Quizzes are usually worth 10 points and announced at least a day in advance. They are over material gone over in class.

Labs: Unfortunately, labs cannot be made up unless there are extenuating circumstances. In order to be as fair as possible, if it is an excused absence the lab will be excused. Also, I will do the best I can to arrange around school activities. It is still the responsibility of the student to find out what happened in the lab from a peer, since questions on the test may come from the lab. Each quarter there will be a group project that will count as a large lab grade.

Homework: Collected homework is accepted up to one day late for half credit. If the homework was checked for completion and gone over in class it cannot be turned in for a late grade. If you are absent when an assignment is due you can earn full credit by turning it in immediately upon your return.

MAKEUP WORK: It is your responsibility to come to me for your makeup work before class, at the end of class or after school. Also, make sure once you complete it, you actually turn it in within the designated time period.
