“MEASURES FOR TALENT ORIENTATION”

“ORIENTATION” IN GENERAL IS A PROCESS BY FOCUSSING ON EXISTING OR AVAILABLE

RESOURCES GIVES BETTER RESULT.

HOWEVER LITERAL MEANING OF ORIENTATION ARE :- The act of orienting or the state of being oriented. The direction followed in the course of a trend, movement, or

development. A tendency of thought.

Top 3 problems

1. STUDY “PROBLEM’’:- This is a major problem for students as well as their parents .Students and

parents are concerned with how well they perform. This creates “PRESSURE”.

College is challenging. With lack of “EFFECTIVE TEACHING”, students don’t get involved or interest in studies is lost.

Even though the syllabi have been refreshed, test taking methods haven't. Students are usually expected to “MUG-UP" standard questions and answer them in standard formats.

Sometimes it is seen parents “FORCE” their children to go for some particular discipline , which makes students “DEMOTIVATED” towards studies.

“solution”A) “PRESSURE” Develop a routine. Schedule 2-3 hours of designated study time. Plan ahead. Try to get brief about what's going to be taught beforehand. Take Notes, Interact with teachers and students . Sleep! Lack of sleep can cause fatigue, and loss of valuable information if you fall

asleep during class.B) “EFFECTIVE TEACHING’’ Focus should be on Conceptual learning rather than from notes learning. To enhance their learning students should rely on online learning through platforms

like Coursera, Udacity and MITx, atleast for CS/EEE. Focus should be given on Creativity and Innovation.C) “Let children be their on masters” Parents should avoid forcing their children to take particular disciplines but rather

support them so that they opt for what they like and that could help them progress and achieve new heights.

Apart from regular disciplines like engg.,medicine our government should take measures to make curriculum for different offbeat courses so that student and as well as their parents should feel secure about it

2. “money” “PROBLEMS” :-o Money proves to be the worst nightmare for parents and students.

1.Tuition costs are rising at alarmingly high rates 2. Couple that with eating out, shopping trips, gas for the car, and the

price of textbooks.o Apart from above mentioned expenses students need more money for

enrolling themselves in different courses of their choice like(gyming, dancing, languages e.t.c). Which puts more pressure on children and parents.

o For further studies due to high fees students have to drop their plans and sometimes earn and then move out with that.

“solutions”A) “Collaboration with Industry” To cut down the pressure of money from parents and students

mind .Government should come up with norms like the industries in the country should sponsor students education in a way that students could work for some minimal pay for fixed duration of time.

for example http://www.buildingcareers.sg/builtenvironmentscholarship.aspx

B) “Concept of part time jobs” The second thing to do is to get as much hands on experience from the

industry as one can during college by doing internships, volunteering and contributions for ex. Part time jobs that could make students efficent.

C) “Enhancing skills” College should make efforts towards providing extra skills and enhaching

them like dancing, gyming, writing, games. So that they can use their skills in earning money as well as adding to their experience.

3. “JOB SECURITY”

“PROBLEMS”o Job security is the biggest concern among parents and students. Securing

job is the main goal for students after college.o Minimal set of employable skills upon graduation. Most students derive

very few employable skills during their college years.o They don’t get more options after college like to go up for higher studies,

selecting particular job e.t.co As in college students are taught only basic things and students cant

master their skills, so their should be 1-2 semesters in which students can choose their own subjects and work on them.

o Preference is given to more professional courses(engg.,medicine,CA) while giving jobs .

o Less industry exposure.

“solutions”• To get as much hands on experience from the industry by doing

internships, volunteering.• Efforts should be made by college to provide guidance to students and

making them aware about current industry trends.• Apart from jobs students should look for options like going for higher

studies, research e.t.c. • During last year students should be allowed to choose their own

“MAJOR” according to market trend and enhance his skills .• Govt. should make efforts to get other graduates to get placed in

industry .So that employability is provided.• Interaction with industry is also must.
