Summer Term: Eco Challenge

The challenge:To redesign the school eco garden making it as environmentally friendly as you can!

You will produce …

- A blue print for your design- A 3d model of your design- A short presentation to ‘sell’

your design to potential investors

Why not think about

Using recycled materials

Renewable energy

The landscape

Using recycled materials

Renewable energy

Using recycled materials

Animal habitats

Your design should think about …

• Layout• Eco friendly• Habitats• Buildings• Building materials

(recycled / sustainable material)• Energy• Litter• Other things …

The plan for the day

Period 1: Eco Treasure Hunt and taskPeriod 2: Planning and blue printPeriod 3: Making (3D model)Period 4: Making Period 5: Presenting

Task 1: Blue printProduce an annotated blue print (plan) to illustrate and explain your

ideas.

Plants (e.g. Rhubarb and leeks) are grown here. This will provide food for the school and reduce food miles

Task 2: 3D ModelUse materials to produce a 3D model of your design

Use recycled materials to produce a model to show what your eco garden would look like

Your model needs to match your blue print design

Presentation as well as good ideas will be important for this

Task 3: Presenting your ideas

Your group will need to present your ideas (and model / design)

Write a speech to explain your ideas … try to include everyone from the group

You could make a poster (or power point) to help your presentation

Make your speech as interesting as possible … you need to convince someone to invest in your project!

Save the world – 5 pieces of material and 30 mins …

Your planet needs you …

Choose your materials

Make something that will save Planet Earth!

Good luck!
