Rainbow Shoes
Continue Storytelling and Remind the
Students about Expectations
Continue part 2 of the story. Remind students about the
expectations before you start. Write keywords in Chinese
with the support of pinyin and English meaning while
telling the story. Tell the story one sentence at a time.
Check comprehensibility. Refer to the strategies used in
Day 1.
Differentiation in Tasks
Besides collaborative dictation, support students’ learning
by using Quizlet, fill-in-blank, and re-arrange the stories.
Each task is designed in three levels. The first level focuses
on high frequency words and basic structures; the second
lev el focuses on key vocabulary and common structures;
the third level focuses on advanced vocabulary, transitional
words, and more complex structures.

Inv ite students to brainstorm how to get the rainbow shoes.
Illustrate the ideas and share with the class.
