Story Map: The monkey’s paw by W.W. Jacobs

Setting: Wet cold night

Where: Lakesnam Villa

When: One night

Major characters: an old father (Herbert White), the mother Mrs. White, the son,

Minor characters: sergeant major Morris, a gentleman,

Plot/problem: a family received a visit from an old friend who was with the father 21 years

ago in India. The man left a magical object to them, which grants wishes though with

terrible consequences.

Event 1:

The family received the

monkey’s paw.

Event 2:

Dad ask for money and

consequently they lost

their son.

Event 3:

The mother, in

desperation, ask for

having her son back,

however the father in

fear, ask for the opposite.

Outcome:

They lose their son forever and things come back to normal.
