Speech Acts and Politeness Strategies in Dr. Pedrito C. Pontillas’ Speeches
The flow of the Study
• Speeches must have a dominating message for the faculty and members
• Must be 5-25 minutes in duration• Must be composed of at least 1000
minimum words to a maximum of 3000 words
Criteria:

Politeness Strategies
Findings:
- Representatives are the most committed act in the three speeches while commisives are the least committed act
- Positive politeness dominated among other strategies while negative politeness least dominated
Conclusion: The representatives in speeches presents how the speaker used it
most with a power and persuasion to assert his opinions to the audience and his opinions are more convincing due to his position and the fact of being a leader.
The positive politeness it appeals to the side of the hearer because of this, it is very appealing to the side of the hearer which can boast the good camaraderie and rapport between the leader and his people. The sense of professionalism as well dominated the atmosphere and thus leads the speaker to be more polite in all sense in all the speeches.
