Starter
• Key to spectatorship is the following idea:
EXPECTATION Vs RESPONSE
Looking at the film posters in front of you, comment on your expectations from this films WITHOUT APPLYING YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR CONTENT!

In your groups, choose a film within your category and offer the three different readings from within that film.

This is a physical response.
This is translated to the spectator by the director (textual)
It uses micro elements to incite the feeling

A-Central ImaginingThe difference is we feel less, but can imagine more
Rather than a physical response, we have an emotional response
A-Central imagining is reliant on the individual spectator’s experiences (extra-textual)

• On your blogs, create a spectatorship section...
• Now choose four film clips - two Central and two A-Central.
• Underneath each clip, write down the micro elements the director utilised, or, your personal response to the clip.
• Be prepared to present at the end of the lesson.
