But some of our buildings are not wheelchairaccessible, including the Fire Hall.(Incredibly heavy doors that arent automatic and narrow doorways) A lot of our buildings are still inaccessible for people with disabilities, including downtown shops and restaurants. 10. Community ConnectionsMission StatementCommunity Connections (Revelstoke) Society provides integrated, accessible social services toindividuals and families in the community of Revelstoke. To respond to community needs wedeliver quality services both directly and through community partnerships. 12. Community Services Provided by CommunityConnections for people with DevelopmentalDisabilities Individualized Community Inclusion Program Participants, with assistance of a worker, engage in community activities such as going to a hokey game or purchasing items at the grocery store, encouraging both independence and confidence. Residential Group Homes There are 2 residential group homes in Revelstoke staffed 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, meeting the needs of a quality lifestyle for those with developmental disabilities. Supported Work Program Integrates individuals with developmental disabilities into a supervised work environment. Community Connectors Giving children and youth with disabilities an opportunity to participate in community activities such as watching a play or going to the bakery. Infant Development Program For children and families of children 0-3 years of age with a current disability or at risk for developing a disability. Respite Periodic childcare for the families of children with disabilities 13. Revelstoke Childcare Society and CCRR (Child Care Resources & Referral)We work with the community to strive for quality inclusive child care servicesthat meet the needs of local families and promote the healthy development of children. 14. Karin Oneill, Education Assistant for School District #19&Revelstokes Strengths and Needs InterviewStrengthsChildren with autism get a lot ofsupport for a smaller community. The school district has a lot of support staff. NeedsRevelstoke needs more mentalhealth support for both childrenand adults. Theres not a whole 15. Here is some great climbing andplaying equipment for some children. 16. but there are additional options thatinclude even more children Revelstoke could definitely use more playground equipment for children with disabilities 17.
