Snake in the Grass
The camera tracks Hudson as he walks down a deserted street, there’s chill in the air and he hurries along thinking to himself.
Dominic Hudson (V.O)
How did I get to this? Walking down this lonely street on a cold November day with a slate that now needs to be wiped clean. I wasn’t always like this ya know, I was a pretty good guy, I had a good looking dame and made myself an honest living as a Police Detective down at HPPD. You’re probably wondering how I got to this, well sit back, light a smoke, and I’ll get
down to talking.
The scene transitions to a flashback. Hudson walks down the corridor and walks into SGT office.
Dominic Hudson (V.O)
Ah, this office, in front of me is SGT Larkin. See I did some recon you know, undercover work. Anyway we walk into the office and sit down.
SGT Larkin
Any news on the Pensiero case? Any leads.
Dominic Hudson
Not much but got one.
SGT Larkin
Go on.
Dominic Hudson
Well I dunno much about it. It involves an armoured truck, tome guns and a woman.
SGT Larkin
A woman. Why a woman?
Dominic Hudson
Not sure yet why they need a woman.
Dominic Hudson (V.O)
So now I guess you’re wondering to yourself, what is the Pensiero job?
The scene flashes back to in the gang hideout with the characters, Pensiero and Paulie.
Dominic Hudson (V.O)
Now this guy, this guy’s the reason this all started. Mr Tony Pensiero the ruthless drug lord in the North East. Turns out he’s ‘ad his fair share of drug raids, he’s a, rough and tumble
guy, or so to speak.
Tony Pensiero
So I was thinking about this job with the woman and the armoured car. Think all I’m gunna need is my best three guys. Come to think of it, talking of my best three guys. Where are
those dinguses anyway.
Paulie
Boss, remember you asked Jonny to dispose of Frankie. Speaking of Frankie he’s late.
Frankie knocks on the door. Paulie opens the door for him. Frankie walks in to room.
Tony Pensiero
Hey, fuck face where you been’?
Jonny
I’ve been ermm dealing with some business, Westside.
Tony Pensiero
All right, good man. On second thought, I think I might be a good idea to get the new guy in on this one.
Jonny
Yeah boss, sounds like a good idea.
Tony Pensiero
Jonny, are you suggesting that all of my ideas anst great ideas?
Paulie
No boss, he was just saying. This is as good as all your ideas.
Tony Pensiero
Paulie, do I look like the kind of guy who appreciates a suck up?
Paulie
Sorry boss, I was just sayin.
Tony Pensiero
Yeah, well just don’t. Don’t suck up to me again or I will pursanally make sure you are sleeping with the fishes. You got that? Now let’s get down to business.
Tony had gestures for the two characters to move away from him.
Tony Pensiero
This jobs got to be quick and clean. Trust me; if either of you guys fucks this up I’ll pursonally see to it that you never work in this town or any other town again. You.
Tony points at Paulie.
Tony Pensiero
I want you to see that it’s all in order. Get the car sorted, get the people sorted, get the guns.
Tony gestures to Jonny.
Tony Pensiero
You. I want you to go find this guy, the new guy. And tell him start preparing for his first job. Get out of here.
The two gang members Jonny and Paulie leave the room putting down there wine glasses.
Dominic Hudson (V.O)
You see, I had to put a stop to this, but at the same time, he lived a pretty cosy life, if you know what I’m saying. Shame really, how someone like him can get away with murder so
easily. Rob get rich without a word to his name. Well, I think it’s about time I tried this life. You see, I was an undercover cop, now I’m quickly becoming the most ruthless drug lord in
the North East; all thanks to a little, ‘favour’, Pensiero did for me.
The shot changes to Pensiero lying dead in the street.
