BaseballBaseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players on one team take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team , which tries to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance via a teammate's hit or other means. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn at bat for each team constitutes an inning; nine innings make up a professional game. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

Page 14: Smithtown 2010 Business Olympics: Powerpoint and vodcasting presentation

How to Create a Vodcast:

• Vodcasting/Podcasting can really be broken down into 4 simple steps:– Plan – How do you know which path to follow if you

have no plan? This part is the answer to identifying the purpose and goal of your podcast.

– Produce – Producing a vodcast/podcast file is not as hard as you might think. In fact you can get started using simple equipment and free software.

– Publish – The tricky part... Vodcasting/Podcasting involves a custom publishing procedure to make it podcast compatible.

– Promote – How are you going to get your message to your audience???

Page 15: Smithtown 2010 Business Olympics: Powerpoint and vodcasting presentation

How to Create a Vodcast:

• Step 1: The Plan• You need to have a plan!

– Prepare what you want to talk about... Just because it’s free and easy doesn’t mean that it’s going to be good!

– Prepare a script to minimize editing– The Vod/Podcaster – Is it going to be a solo vod/podcast, or will

you have other guests in to host with you at the same time?– The Length – How long will your vod/podcast episode be? 2

minutes?– Vod/Podcast Segments – How will you break your vod/podcast

down to keep listeners interest high?– Intro and outro music – Will you be talking right after the

vod/podcast has started, or will there be an intro and outro music to lead and close the vod/podcast?

Page 16: Smithtown 2010 Business Olympics: Powerpoint and vodcasting presentation

How to Create a Vodcast:

• Step 2: The Production• You need hardware and software

– This can be as simple as an analog or digital recording device. If you plan on recording directly to your computer, a microphone plugged into the port/jack on the sound card is more than enough to get you ready!

– Software:• Free websites to download software (if you don’t already have a

recorder on your computer):– www.industrialaudiosoftware.com– www.audacity.com– www.mypodcast.com– www.How-to-podcast-tutorial.com– www.podbean.com

How to Create a Vodcast:

• Step 3: The Publication– Once you have produced your vod/podcast, it

must be MP3 and Windows Media Player compatible so that it could be published.

• Step 4: The Promotion– How are you going to get people to listen to

your vod/podcast? What is your market, and how will you reach them?
