Overview of workshop:Wireless M2M technology is growing and together with theInternet of Things (IoT), it is opening a lot of new opportunitiesfor the oil and gas sector. By enabling network connectivitybetween complex infrastructures, however, and thecapability to control these remotely, the challenges andthreats are growing, too.

The oil and gas and utilities sectors need to be veryresponsible with wireless M2M technology as more than dataprivacy is at stake. Concerns about hacking and advancedpersistent threats (APTs) are justified, and any successfulattack can have devastating consequences.

During this half-day workshop, Alan Calder, founder of globalcyber security provider IT Governance, and Geraint Williams,Head of Technical Services at IT Governance, will helpattendees understand how wireless M2M and the IoT canpose a threat to the oil and gas and utilities sectors, and whatpractical steps should be taken to reduce the cyber risk andachieve resilience.

About the workshop leaders:Alan Calder is Founder and Executive Chairman of ITGovernance, the fast growing cyber security provider.
