THE BEGINNING OF RECONSTRUCTION

In 1985. a young man rised to be the General Secretary of the Communist Party, he’s name was Mihhail Gorbatšov.

1986. he declared initiatives which were the reconstruction and disclosure.

ANEW LIBERATIONPHOSPHORITE WAR

Very active in the fight were the Tartu students. On the On the 1. May they went to the parade with slogans against phosphorite, a little later, they put on one of the biggest symbols against phosphorite war. They weared yellow shirts with quote: Phosphorite? No, thanks!

In 1987. in September came the liberation movement into a new phase.

Four men proposed to complete the Estonian territorial self-sufficiency.

THE SINGING REVOLUTION

1987. 7th of November in Pärnu Vello Väärtnõu came out with the idea of the creation of the Estonian National Independence Party, in which he said the first time at the public face of the idea that there is a need to establish a national party and take the power from communists.

In Tartu were held Heritage Days. Heritage conservation movement had gained strength for several years, eventually it became a mass movement.1988. Was established a global Estonian Heritage Society under the leadership of Trivimi Velliste.

THE SONG OF ESTONIA11th September, the people gathered at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds of approximately 300,000 people all over Estonia's present political demands and listen to patriotic songs in ''Song of Estonia ", which Trivimi Velliste called in his speech for the first time publicly restoration of Estonian independence.

1988. on 16. november the Estonian SSR Council accepted The Declaration of Independence. Estonian SSR commenced breaking away from the Soviet Union.

BALTIC WAY

At the end of the summer, was a event that reflected the worldwide media, the Baltic Way.

The chain was formed at the agreed time and in the manner, and the result surprised the makers themselves.Two million people united their hands, 300,000-400,000 were from Estonia.

In May 1990. was ruled out under the name of the Estonian SSR, and it was replaced by the Republic of Estonia.

RESTORATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF ESTONIA

In 1991. 20 August, the Council adopted with the Estonian Committee, they concerted the decision to confirm the independence of the Republic of Estonia and to apply for resumption of diplomatic relations.

24-28. august were established formal relations with 26 different countries. E. Savisaare’s government announced that the rail, shipping, and so far refractory to Moscow's factories are Estonia's state property.
